Practical advice for patients suffering from seasonal pollen allergy:
- Specialist’s diagnosis of pollen allergy.
- Medical therapy: Rhinolight medical phototherapy and/or antiallergic medicine therapy.
- Preventive measures:
- Avoid outdoor activities during the bloom season (e.g. lawnmowing, hay harvest)
- Avoid outdoor sports
- It is recommended to wash your hair every day
- Stay indoors in dry and windy weather
- On these days the windows and doors of the flat and car should be kept closed
- Use the air conditioner and pollen filter both at home and in the car.
- Do not sleep with an open window
- Do not dry clothes or sheets outdoors
- Rinse nasal cavity with warm water snuffed from your palms every day
- Symptoms can be caused by eating fruits or vegetables because they contain the same allergen (cross-reactivity)
Do’s and don’ts in case of house dust mite allergy:
- Specialist’s diagnosis of house dust mite allergy.
- Medical therapy: Rhinolight medical phototherapy and/or antiallergic medicine therapy.
- Preventive actions:
- All dust-catchers (carpets, pillows, etc.) should be removed from the bedroom
- Bedclothes should be washed weekly
- The temperature of the flat should be kept under 20°C
- Children's plush toys should be kept in the freezer for at least two hours, once a week, because dust mites die below -18°C
- Wet clearing is preferred during dusting
- If you have to vacuum, keep a wet towel in front of your nose
- You mustn’t use feathery bedding
- Use anti-mite bedclothes
- You mustn’t do dust-control and junk-clearance
- Apply dust mite killing substances and high-performance vacuum cleaners
